I suppose my interest in the content of this class would trace back to eighth grade, but to make a long story short, I developed an odd interest in the American Civil War (I have since become a Civil War reenactor). I then took interest in history more broadly and in the way that history is taught, particularly through media and photography, to engage students. My passion for history led to a passion for politics and a curiosity about social issues.
I like taking pictures (casually), too, and am interested in the role that images play in our lives and in our perception of historically and politically significant events. Through this class I hope to learn more about the impact of photography on particular movements in history and how new media is changing the world’s social and political landscape.
This is my About Me page for more background on who I am.
